Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule

LAGOS State government has threatened to sanction any private primary and secondary schools in the state that flouts the resumption schedules for the new academic session commencing today after a two-month holiday.

The deputy governor, Dr Idiat Adebule gave the threat at an educational sectoral meeting, saying all schools-public and private-are expected to open their gates for activities for the 2018\2019 academic year on Monday (today).

She said government would not take it lightly with any school contravening the date even for one day longer.

According to her, a uniform academic calendar will give room for proper planning and monitoring and for students spending the same number of days in school for a term.

On part of students in both the public and private schools, Adebule, who also oversees the state’s education sector, adviced them to devote more attention to their studies and also shun all vices including internet fraud, hooliganism, rape, examination malpractice, and drug abuse.

She reaffirmed government’s determination to improve service delivery in public schools and provide better enabling environment for private schools.
