Lagos to partner police to ensure safe, easy commuting

The Lagos State government has said it will continue to partner with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to ensure motorists move within the metropolis safely.

Disclosing this during a courtesy visit by the newly-appointed Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adegoke Fayoade and his team, Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi while welcoming the CP, requested for a continuous collaboration with the force in upholding the state government’s stance on zero tolerance to traffic misdemeanors.

Osiyemi further stressed the need for more policemen to prevent traffic robberies and ensure safety on the alternative routes during the ongoing Third Mainland Bridge repair and subsequent enforcement of traffic regulations on okada and wrong use of the transport infrastructure.

In response to the aforementioned requests, the Commissioner of Police disclosed that mandates have been issued to divisional police officers across the local governments and local council development areas to combat challenges mentioned already, adding that changes are inevitable.

The commissioner of police reassured the support of the force in tackling the aforementioned challenges and also disclosed that the Police have formed a committee with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Lagos State Neighbourhood Corp and other sister agencies to ensure enforcements.

He assured that the collaborative efforts of the bodies will make transportation safe, smooth and better than it used to be.
