Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday said his administration is actively working on policies and initiatives that will position Lagos as the leading hub for digital gaming, fintech solutions, and AI-driven creative enterprises in Africa.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made this known while delivering his keynote address at the opening of the Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) 2025 holding in the state, emphasising the significant potential for collaboration between gaming, fintech, entertainment and AI in shaping the future of Africa’s digital economy.
The governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering an environment where innovation thrives, responsible gaming is prioritized, and digital entrepreneurship flourishes.
This was just as he noted that the Africa Gaming Expo 2025 was not just an exhibition, but a critical platform for stakeholders, regulators, investors, and tech pioneers to explore how AI can enhance efficiency, security, and inclusivity across industries like gaming, fintech, and entertainment.
“Through progressive policies, strategic investments, and digital infrastructure, Lagos aims to create a collaborative ecosystem where game developers, fintech startups, content creators, and AI innovators can scale their ideas globally.
“The Africa Gaming Expo 2025 is a critical platform for stakeholders, regulators, investors, and tech pioneers to explore how AI can enhance efficiency, security, and inclusivity across industries like gaming, fintech, and entertainment. This expo is not just an exhibition; it is a launchpad for new ideas, partnerships, and innovations that will drive Africa’s digital transformation,” the governor said.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), Mr. Bashir Are, enumerated benefits of the expo, “Transforming the Gaming Sector with Artificial Intelligence and Fintech,” saying that AGE is an annual event for gaming regulators, operators, and the entire value chain to come together to deliberate and proffer solutions to issues affecting the industry.
Are, who spoke with newsmen at the event, disclosed that over 500 delegates across the globe were currently participating in the 3-day event.
