LAGOS State governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved the promotion of 8,617 public primary school teachers in the state.
Executive Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Ganiyu Oluremi Sopeyin, disclosed this on Sunday in a chat, explaining that the promotion exercise had cleared the backlogs inherited by the present administration in the state primary schools.
According to Sopeyin, 10,851 public primary school teachers of different grade levels sat for the promotion examination adding that the exercise could not have being possible without Governor Ambode’s passion for the welfare of public school teachers.
He assured that the state government would continue to provide for the needs of basic education in order to ensure qualitative and quantitative education in a conducive atmosphere in the state.
The executive chairman urged successful teachers not to relent on their oars, but rather should consider their successes as motivating factor which should spur them to do more; stressing that to whom much is given much is expected.
“In your renewed service delivery to manifest the laudable efforts of the present administration to improve the standard of education in the state, I urged you to be fair, friendly and fear God in your service delivery,” he said.
Sopeyin observed that since the present administration came on board, a lot of laudable development had taken place in the area of education and other sectors in the state, which he said had gained local and international recognitions.
He recalled that just recently, Governor Ambode was conferred with an Award of the ‘Best Performing Governor in Primary Education in Nigeria’ for the Year 2016 by the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria in Kano.
