Lagos port Channel Management company fetes less privileged

The Lagos Channel Management (LCM) company, the firm handling the dredging of the Lagos seaport channel, recently donated cash and other items to five correctional centres and orphanages which includes the Lagos State Government Children Centre, The Special Correctional Centre for Girls, Bab-es-Salam Orphanage Home, Bola Mofo Zion Motherless Shelter and the Tunji Adebayo Motherless Babies Home, all located in Lagos, as part of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Speaking during the donation, LCM’s Managing Director, Danny Fuchs expressed the company resolve to continue assisting the less privileged every year.

According to him, “Where I come from, I do things like this, so why should I not do same here where we have business interest.”

The company’s Human Resource Manager, Falade Oyekan, said the company ensures it donates cash and other items to the needy every year to maintain its principle of giving back to the needy.

Two children centre and to orphanage homes were on ground to receive the one million Naira cash donation alongside other gift items.

Explaining the composition of their centres to the LCM management which included the General Manager, Finance & Admin, Ibrahim Haruna, the Assistant Chief Social Welfare Officer under the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mrs S.Y. Giwa who manages The Lagos State Government Children Centre in Idi-Araba lauded the efforts of LCM in reaching out to the Centre.

Mrs Silifatu Giwa explained that there are 52 children between the ages of six and 10 at the centre at the moment and that the centre has been able to take off children that have hitherto been left to roam the streets of Lagos with no hope or expectation.

Also, Mrs Sabiu Omowunmi who manages the Special Correctional Centre where there are 71 children between ages of 10 and 17, lauded LCM for its exposit in coming to the aid of the needy.

In the words of the Head of the BAB’ ES’ SALAM HOME, Mr Hassan Idris Tahir, if others emulate the efforts of LCM in reaching out to the needy, then less privileged children will always have a shoulder to lean on.
