Lagos PDP to Sanwo-Olu: Stay positive, eschew vendetta

Published by

LAGOS State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has counselled the newly sworn-in governor of the state, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to adopt positivism and eschew the pursuit of any iota of vendetta if he must succeed as a governor.

The party gave this counsel on Wednesday in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mr Taofik Gani, contending that the undoing for Governor Sanwo-Olu would be for him to attempt unnecessarily going after his immediate predecessor and or opposition interests, rather than concentrating on his programmes to better the living conditions of Lagosians.

PDP, while attesting to the unparalleled achievements of the outgone Governor Ambode in developing the state compared to those of any of his predecessors, counselled Sanwoolu to rather look into how to surpass Ambode’s legacies instead of attempting to victimise any perceived opponents before and after his emergence.

The party thus further posited that in the interest of worthy services to Lagosians, Mr Sanwo-Olu should make up a cabinet of competent hands and not mediocre in the name of partisanship.

“We, PDP, regret not winning Lagos State since 1999, Lagosians would have experienced true rapid developments in all areas viz the monumental resources which abound in the state.

“However, we are patriotic and non-partisan enough to acknowledge that the achievements of Governor Ambode are challenging for an immediate successor. Mr Sanwo-Olu should be wary of sycophants who will mislead him into the governance of vendetta. As a party in opposition, we will be resolute to play our opposition roles, indeed engaging in constructive criticism,” PDP said.
