The Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators (LASPAGA) has given scholarships to students’ union presidents across the 11 tertiary institutions in Lagos.
The schools include the Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu; Lagos State University of Education, Ijanikin; Yaba College of Technology; Lagos State College of Health Technology, Yaba, amongst others.
The Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Lagos State chapter, Alimi Lekan Idris, made this disclosure at a news conference recently.
He noted that this action of LASPAGA is commendable as it will greatly ease the financial pressure they and other students as well as many other Nigerians are currently facing in the country due to economic downturn.
The student body, while also praising LASPAGA for giving employment to some of their old members who have now graduated, said; “The provision of scholarship is not merely an act of generosity but a strategic investment in the future leaders of our society.”
The students noted that the gesture would certainly aid their academic pursuits, adding that by this gesture, LASPAGA has proved to be an important entity that aims not only to nurture talent and intellect, but also foster a culture of excellence and leadership among Nigerian students.
The students, therefore, lauded LASPAGA and particularly its Chairman, Oba Sulaimon Adesina Raji-Asade, for the gesture and also for ensuring peace and unity in Lagos motor parks since he became the chairman.
They asked Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s led administration to continue to provide necessary support for the agency to thrive.
They also urged the Federal Government to swiftly address issues affecting the country and remain committed to effect positive changes towards building a bright future for all Nigerians.
