Lagos NURTW chairman assures of justice for assaulted female driver

The Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle Adio, popularly known as Tafa Sego, has received the female driver, Yetunde Amole, who was attacked in a viral video by a suspected hoodlum later identified as Friday Onu.

Policemen from the Maroko Division of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested the suspect, who has since been arraigned in court.

The Lagos NURTW Chairman stressed that the arrested thug is not a member of the union and assured the victim that she would get justice for the attack.

During a meeting between the NURTW boss and the female driver on Monday at the union’s office in Oko Oba, Agege, Lagos, Alhaji Sego condemned the incident and took the opportunity to dissociate the union from such unruly behavior.

He assured her that no member of the union would harass or intimidate her going forward.

Reaffirming the union’s commitment to professionalism, Sego emphasized that NURTW members have been trained to act respectfully and responsibly in their interactions with the public.

He also commended the Lagos State Government for the swift arrest of the suspect and pledged the union’s full support in ensuring that justice is served.

“We will ensure that Yetunde Amole gets justice in this instance. This will serve as a strong warning to others not to harass any driver in the state,” he stated.

Alhaji Sego further called on the public to respect the fundamental human rights of drivers, while emphasizing the union’s zero tolerance for any form of harassment against its members.

He concluded by warning union members against engaging in any behavior that could tarnish the reputation of the NURTW.
