The Lagos State Government has disclosed readiness to relocate the popular Computer Village from Ikeja to Katangua in the Abule-Egba area of the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on eGIS and Urban Development, Dr Olajide Babatunde, made this known during a joint inspection and enforcement exercise carried out by Lagos State Building Control Agency at the weekend.
The inspection was in conjunction with some law enforcement agencies and other relevant government agencies in charge of emergency related matters.
Apart from the computer village, the special adviser said that other markets would be affected.
“I will give an example, in Ikeja, we have the computer village, which is being relocated to Katangua. It is not just the computer village alone, there are other activities that would happen in the Katangua market,” he said.
He said the efforts of the government on the Katangua market will be seen soon
Explaining, he said the exercise is being targeted towards moving people or traders on the road in Ikeja, who obstruct traffic to a proper market big enough with all the services.
Some of the services include a creche for their children, schools, playground, churches, mosques, storage room, warehouses, accomodations and hotel facilities, among others.
