Lagos State government has applauded Dizengoff’s collaborative efforts with the state to not only boost food production but to make it affordable for the teeming population of the state.

Speaking during the event, Folu Padonu, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, congratulated Dizengoff Nigeria for its collaborative efforts with the state government, adding “it marks the beginning of our partnership in agricultural revolution for community agriculture in Lagos State.”

The product presentation and exhibition was part of a capacity building programme, a collaborative effort with Dizengoff Nigeria which involves the training of farmers to ensure they have technical know-how on modern ways of farming to improve their yield.

The programme covered four areas of agriculture solutions where participants were enlightened on the use of modern agricultural machineries and implements, Greenhouse technology, irrigation solution, agrochemicals and consumables.

Participants in the programme which was organized as a “train-the trainer” programme, were drawn from HODs of Agric and Social Services, Agricultural Desk Officers in all the state’s 57 LGA/LCDAs. Other relevant stakeholders involved in mechanized based agricultural development also attended.

In his keynote address at the event, Special Adviser to the state governor on Communities and Communication, Akeem Sulaimon, disclosed that state government believes that “enlightenment and empowerment of agricultural personnel especially in mechanised community agriculture at the local government level is a major key to sustainable development that will guarantee consistent growth of the economy in agriculture, food security and generate employment opportunities.”

He noted that “globally agricultural development is driven by mechanisation. The best global mechanisation management practices are important in ensuring optimal agricultural production better living standards, poverty reduction of rural-urban drift, reduce unemployment and youth restiveness in our communities.”
