Lagos govt, attend to Ijagemo community

Published by

I was thrilled recently when I watched a programme on LTV-8 entitled  ‘Ibile update.’ This programme chronicled the events and policies of the Lagos State government in the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.

The majority of the highlighted projects centred on the environment, especially roads. There and then,  I began to wonder if some of us are really living in the same Lagos State given the number of roads outlined as either completed, work-in-progress or at different levels of completion in many of the LGAs and LCDAs.

What I did not see or hear was a mention of Ijagemo, which I understand belongs to the Iba LCDA or Ojo LGA as the case may be. It has not had a single asphalted road in its more than 200 years of existence, as recently corroborated by the Baale of Ijagemo land.

Sincerely speaking, this neglect had been existing even before the present administration.  But the question now is, how long shall the long-suffering of the people continue unabated?  Interestingly, the incumbent administration has a window of opportunities to engrave its name in gold.

People of like minds in Ijagemo and its environs have resolved to queue behind anyone or group of people who can identify with the community and its teeming populace to alleviate their plight, in any way possible, especially with respect to the nightmarish road situation in the area.

For clarity, Ijagemo community is situated at the end of Ikotun-Ijegun axis, bordering the Ojo Military Cantonment, Obadore and Festac Town.

Tony Anaele,

Lagos.
