An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday ordered that a 30-year-old Emeka Emanu should be remanded in a corrections facility for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl and taking pictures of her in the nude.
The defendant, who resides Peace Avenue, Okota, Lagos State, was charged with defilement and publication of obscene matter.
Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not take Emanu’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded at a correctional center in Lagos.
Kubeinje directed the police to send the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until Jumy 27, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp John Iberedem said that Emanu committed the offence on June 11 at Peace Avenue by Startimes Estate, Ago-Okota, Lagos.
He also said Emanu took nude pictures and videos of the victim with his Samsung phone unknown to her.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 137 and 150(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 150(1) stipulates of N450,000 or imprisonment for three years for anyone guilty of projecting or distributing any obscene article for gain or not.
