Lagos-Calabar coastal highway: Work begins in Calabar section in two weeks, Akpabio assures

The Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that for swift completion of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway within the tenure of the present administration, there is greater need for work to begin at both ends.

He revealed that after the commencement of the project in Lekki, Lagos State, he had a closed door discussion with the President Bola Tinubu on the need to begin the project at both ends, expressing delight that the President gave a nod, assuring that work will begin in Calabar section of the project in the next two weeks.

Akpabio disclosed this during the one-day All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South executive committee meeting held at the Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar, Cross River State.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the APC’s South-South executive committee meeting was the first of its kind in the zone, strictly for those specified in section 12.1 of the party’s constitution.

At the meeting, stakeholders of the party from the zone interacted and charted the way forward of the party in the South-South region.

The Senate President asserted that by the time they hold another zonal meeting next year, he hoped that two governors will be sitting with them.

“I am hoping that by the time we hold this meeting next year, we shall be sitting with two governors from the South-South zone.

“God has enabled the zone to be on the table and centre of governance in the country.

“Forty-five years after the late Senator Joseph Wayas, my emergence as Senate President is in the best interest of the zone. If we are committed, we will achieve anything, we are going to defeat Obaseki,” Akpabio said.
