LAGOS State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday expressed joy on the return of President Muhammadu Buhari to the country after spending days in London for medical treatment, expressing the hope that he would brace up to boldly checkmate the challenges that the country faced while he was away.
The party said this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Mr Joe Igbokwe, listing those challenges to include secessionists multiplying the intensity of their agitations, continued invasion of some communities in the Northern parts of Nigeria by Boko Haram and the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
This was just as the party accused those it described as haters, election losers, looters, and their associates of wishing that the president returned from London alive through their various actions, which included publishing “the obituaries of a man who is alive,” while some others took it as a duty to vilify and abuse the president on a daily basis.
“While the President was away the haters, election losers, looters, and their associates wished that he never returns. Some published the obituaries of a man who is alive. Some took it as a duty to vilify and abuse the President on a daily basis but the devil has been shamed by this miraculous recovery. May the healing become permanent by His grace.
“While the President was away, secessionists multiplied the intensity of their agitations, Boko Haram continued to invade some communities in the Northern parts of Nigeria, and even ASUU went on strike. We hope that President Buhari will brace up to boldly checkmate these challenges,” the APC said.
It, however, appealed to Nigerians to continue to support the President Buhari and his Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as they brace up to deal with the challenges ahead, saying it had no doubt in its mind that the duo meant well for Nigeria and had demonstrated this through actions and deeds.
“Lagos APC appeals to Nigerians to continue to support the President and his Vice as they brace up to deal with the challenges ahead. We have no doubt in our minds that these two patriots mean well for Nigeria and they have demonstrated this through actions and deeds,” the party said.
