Lagos ADP Chairman to Kola Abiola: Release documentary on June 12 now

Chairman, Lagos State chapter of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr Kayode Jacob, has urged Kola, son of late business mogul and winner of June 12 Presidential Election, Chief MKO Abiola, to release with delay documentary on the exercise and events following the annulment of the poll by the military junta.

Jacob, who noted that he was an active participant in the struggle and on the side of those calling for restoration of the people’s mandate given to Abiola, made the call in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos at the weekend, declaring that many people would be shocked by such documentary that was on record.

The ADP chairman, who said he was touched by the Kola Abiola interview in a national daily, affirmed that he never knew that the truth about June 12 would ever be told: “as everything had been turned upside down and villains were recorded as heroes courtesy of heavily paid PR.”

According to him, Kola’s statement about the late Gen. Shehu Yar’adua group and Dapo Sarumi in Lagos reminded him of so many lies Nigerians were fed with, through the media, lamenting, however, that those that were directly involved in the struggle, including himself were seen as liars and “bad belly” whenever they tried to correct or guide them to let them know the truth.

This was just as the ADP chieftain declared that many glasses of water had “passed under the bridge from Lagos Primary to Jos Convention, to June 12 election day; days before it and post annulment era.”

“I was touched by the Kola Abiola interview in the Sun Newspaper. Honestly, I never knew that the truth about June 12 will ever be told as everything had been turned upside down and villains were recorded as heroes courtesy of heavily paid PR.

“Kola’s statement about the Shehu Yar’adua group and Dapo Sarumi in Lagos reminded me of so many lies Nigerians were fed with, through the Media and when those of us directly involved tried to correct them, we were seen as liars and bad belly,” he said.

Jacob, while recalling the meetings that groups, including the one led by Dapo Sarumi, had with the late Abiola at his residence, declared that Kola might not have problem with his documentary of series of such encounters.

“I remembered how some people working for the enemy isolated MKO and HOPE ’93 from the party to cause disaffection. I remembered how we were instructed by our leaders that June 12 must be delivered unconditionally to SDP, because power may be difficult to retrieve if NRC won.

“I remembered all that we did to ensure victory for MKO as the symbol of our party though he has been hijacked by vested interests and a few pretenders who had some powerful section of the media at their disposal,” he recalled.

Speaking further, the ADP chairman affirmed that the late Abiola, who was winner of the June 12 poll had been hoodwinked by men who he said dined with the devil at night but kept company of angels by the day, adding that while men on the side of late Yar’Adua complied with the instruction not to join the late Gen. Sani Abacha government, contrary was the case with those he tagged “pretenders” on the side of MKO who were busy jostling for positions.

“And as Kola said, when they were also disappointed, they became NADECO and champions of June 12.

“Anyway, I think we should wait for the June 12 documentary to be released by Kola Abiola. Many will be shocked and many will become properly placed in history and probably Nigerians will grow up and become less gullible, celebrating unpatriotic pretenders and vilifying the good and the patriotic,” Jacob said.
