According to the Agency, the arrest was made during the operations carried out by its operatives across the state, saying this was done in its renewed efforts at sanitizing the environment.
In a statement made available by the Agency’s spokesperson, Mrs Rahmat Alabi, LAGESC said the offenders were apprehended at Agege Motor Road, Oshodi, Mushin and Isolo road between the hour of 4:30am and 6:00am.
LAGESC disclosed that embarking on “night operations as part of its new strategies in carrying out its duties was aimed at targeting and arresting people who are in the habit of dumping refuse all over the state especially at night and thereby causing serious environmental nuisances, despite on-going campaign against such illegal activities in the state.
“In compliance with the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), refuse bins have been provided and placed in all strategic places across the state for refuse dumping to bring absolute sanity to the state in consonance with global best practices.
“LAGESC authorities has warned that anyone caught violating any provision of the Environmental Sanitation Laws as espoused in the ‘New Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Law 2017’ would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”
