Ladoja, epitome of service, at 73

Published by
Former governor of Oyo State and Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Ladoja

ON Monday, September 25, Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, erstwhile senator, governor of Oyo State, a frontline politician and the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, marked his 73rd birthday at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Many people have since  been trooping to his  house to congratulate and felicitate with him. Chief Ladoja  is a person of high fidelity who commands the respect of the people.

He has sympathy, respect and consideration for others.  For example, while he was Oyo State governor, he promoted the interests of the people of the state through his laudable  programmes.

An astute administrator, he proved his mettle by harnessing the meagre resources of the state in providing basic needs for the people such as regular and potable water supply and improvement in education through construction of new classrooms and renovating the extant ones to make the school environment conducive, especially for pupils.

The classrooms were also adequately equipped. Trained and qualified teachers were employed.

But Ladoja’s feats were not limited to the education sector alone. He recorded landmarks in sectors such as health, agriculture and housing.

Chief Ladoja also cultivated the welfare of the people by providing them with employment opportunities, especially for young school leavers. In fact, he made things easy for  workers and pensioners by paying promptly their monthly allowances.

This and many more he did, and the people still cherish him and shower accolades on him.

The achievements are certainly a source of internal joy to him, members of his family, relatives and well-wishers, and a source of inspiration to others.

I rejoice with Ladoja’s family, relatives, friends and well-wishers within and outside the shores of the country.
