Ladies, before you bare that flesh…

Published by

Off-shoulder, cut-out shoulder, low-back, plunging neckline, thigh-high slits, cropped, among others, are many ways to show off skin for women. However, to achieve that tasteful, yet alluring look, there are certain things to keep in mind.

Skin care is a must

One of the most important rules of baring skin, according to fashion enthusiasts, is that you have glowing skin. So, follow skin care tips, such as moisturising properly; keeping yourself well hydrated; avoiding use of too many chemical products, among others.

Exude confidence

There is no point taking the decision to bare flesh, if your confidence will suffer any form of lack. Hold your head high and strut like the queen that you are. Be sure to be confident enough to bare your skin.

Consider hair removal

Before considering slits, especially for people, who are quite uncomfortable with hair, preferable, use hair removal cream on the legs and thighs. Some women also have chest hair that may become uncomfortable to bare if plunging neckline is the choice you make. If so, invest in quality hair removal cream.

Choose the right fabric

Before choosing an outfit with slits, the fabric should be considered. Go for lightweight fabrics that would allow free movement. However, depending on the bare style you choose, avoid fabrics that are too light so as to prevent the embarrassment of exposing more than you desire, in the event of unexpected wind.

Match shoes appropriately

When choosing styles such as thigh-high slits, whether the slit is at the front, side or back, shoes are very visible and as such, should be a perfect fit. Preferable, choose shoes with heels such as stilettos, pumps or strappy heels. However, sneakers may not be such a bad idea if you’re aiming for the classy casual outlook.

Accessorise

When working with accessories, try not to go overboard, else you lose the flattering style of the bare look. You could use very simple jewelry, as will as a thin belt to outline your figure. Statement blouses, elaborate jewelry or overdesigned shoes as this will only make you look trashy with bared skin. For plunging necklines, bare shoulders, and low-backed outfits, understand the need to avoid the use of a bra. Instead, use nipple covers. If the outfit is something you would be designing from scratch, speak with your fashion designer on the need to use extra fabric for the chest area, as well as breast pads, so you can avoid wearing a bra.

Other points to note:

  • Wear slits with moderation and decency.
  • Avoid showing too much with plunging necklines and low-backed outfits.
  • For thigh-high slits, it is more advisable for people with long, beautiful legs. If not, go for back or side slits. To achieve longer legs, go for long heels.
  • If you don’t feel too comfortable showing off your bare legs, yet want to do the thigh-high slit, wear a panty hose for slight coverage. For necklines and backs, you can cover up slightly with net or lace fabrics.
  • Be careful with your posture when you wear slits, especially when crossing the legs or sitting down.
  • Understand the environment before rocking slits. You don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb.Additional source from lagosconvo.com
