Lack of maintenance of public facilities

Published by

Lack maintenance of public facilities is one of the factors that has made Nigeria remain an underdeveloped country. It’s so sad that a neighbouring country like Ghana, that was looking up to Nigeria, is now more developed than Nigeria.

One of the most important public facilities that we should focus on is our roads. Road users do not pay attention to the way they make use of the roads; in fact, market women extend their goods onto the main roads in many cities in Nigeria. In addition, government can build more traffic lights to reduce the number of accidents. The government should also enforce traffic laws.

Maintenance of our health care centres within our locality is also important. Most public healthcare centres do not have enough health personnel to carry out the job. Moreover, there are not enough equipment to do their jobs effectively. Government should provide more equipment to our local health care centres.

People are fond of dumping refuse into the drainage system which causes blockage and this results into flooding. People should be enlightened on the danger of dumping refuse into the drainage system. The government should create better drainage systems and clear the existing ones.

Public schools lack proper buildings especially primary schools. Government should provide proper buildings for learning. In order to have better Nigeria issues of lack of maintenance should be addressed.
