Maiturare stated this at the weekend in Suleja, explaining that “most of the corrupt practices that exist in universities across the country usually take place at procurement level.”

The vice chancellor who spoke at a training workshop for top management staff of his university on ‘Due Process and Financial Regulations in Procurement and Leadership Principles,’ further  argued that better understanding of appropriate procurement procedures in all financial dealings in the universities would curb corruption and ensure an improved service delivery.

He said that his institution would gain a lot from the training workshop because it would improve the capacity of the management staff in due process and procurement procedure.

“This will improve service delivery through implementation of best practices in procurement and budgeting procedures,” he said.

Also in his remarks at the occasion, the pro-chancellor and chairman, governing council, IBBU, Dr Mohammed Kudu Santuraki, underscored the importance of the workshop in enhancing the management for competence and better performance in accordance with the accelerated development of the university.

Dr Santuraki commended the organisers of the workshop and enjoined the participants to pay rapt attention to the training, adding that they would henceforth be useful in the implementation of due process and procurement procedures in the university.

“This training platform would provide good opportunity for participants to adopt best practices that could add values to the university and also enhance their leadership qualities towards improving service delivery and performance, thereby making our university to stand taller among its peers in the country,” he said.

Also in his goodwill message, the director-general, Niger State Public Procurement Board, Mr Mamman Musa, commended the management of IBBU for being the first among all the tertiary institutions in the state to train staff on ‘Due Process and Procurement Procedures.’

Meanwhile, in another development, the management team has paid homage to Sarkin Zazzau Suleja, His Royal Highness, Mallam Muhammad Awwal Ibrahim, for his continued support and royal counsels to the university.
