Labour Minister tasks newly inaugurated NSITF board on transparency, accountability

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, has asked the members of the newly inaugurated board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), to make transparency, accountability and ethical decision-making their watchwords.

He also tasked them on effective participation in strategic planning, policy development, and oversight of all operations concerning the Fund. He also emphasised the importance of collaboration and teamwork, and open collaboration.

Dr. Dingyadi, who made this charge while inaugurating the board in Abuja, maintained that the board has a critical role to play in ensuring that NSITF delivers its quota on President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, “The NSITF Board plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the Agency and the Ministry, especially towards the achievement of the effective leadership and invaluable success of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in repositioning Nigeria’s economy for a better tomorrow. Your diverse perspectives and expertise will be instrumental in navigating the challenges and opportunities ahead.

“The functions of the Board are outlined under sections 31 & 32 of the Act establishing the Fund.

“As Board members, you are all aware that the Fund plays a key role in ensuring the welfare and protection of Nigerian workers by providing financial support and assistance in times of need in line with the provisions of the Employees’ Compensation Act. Therefore, your commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical decision-making is paramount.

“I expect you all to actively participate in strategic planning, policy development, and oversight of all operations concerning the Fund. Success is not possible without collaboration and teamwork. I encourage you to work together as a cohesive unit, leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise.”

The Minister went further to say, “I urge you to foster a culture of open communication and mutual respect. I have unwavering confidence in your ability to excel in your new roles. I am excited to embark on this journey with you, and I am confident that together, we can achieve great things.

“Let us work together to make the Fund a beacon of excellence and a force for positive change. I am confident that under your leadership, we will achieve our goals and make a meaningful impact.”
