Speaking during special convocation ceremony of the university in Malete on Tuesday, the chairman, KWASU governing council, Professor Saka Nuru, said that the most daunting of the problems of the university was its present vulnerable financial status, which he said needed speedy intervention from the state government.
The chairman, who said that operating a 21st-century university, like KWASU, required adequate funding, added that such funding could hardly be met through only internally generated revenue.

Professor Nuru commended efforts of the university management for prudent management of available resources, saying that the university had, over the years, been receiving the support of the host community, Malete, in particular, and Moro local government in general.
“It is heartwarming to note that despite the very difficult and precarious financial situation, the university has continued to pay salaries and emoluments as and when due”, he said.
The governing council, which appreciated past efforts of the state government, also appealed for reconstruction of the main road to the university campus, Shao-Malete road, saying that it was becoming deplorable.
Professor Nuru, who said that the university would appreciate the gesture if implemented, added that the reconstruction would also impact on the socioeconomic development of the area.
The chairman also said that the Senate of the institution considered antecedents and pedigree of the three honorary awardees, namely, former Ghana president, John Kufuor, Banker Fola Adeola and traditional music icon, Alhaji jayigbade Alao, adding that they were found worthy of the degrees being conferred on them.
