Kwara South leaders commend Abdulrazaq’s devt strides

Leaders from the seven local government areas in the Kwara South Senatorial District of Kwara State have affirmed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has outperformed previous administrations in the region since 1999.

The leaders, under the banner of the Kwara South Development Initiative (KSDI), met over the weekend in Lagos to discuss the region’s socioeconomic and political development. Emphasizing collective efforts, they called for unity to attract more growth and mobilize residents for shared prosperity.

Speaking at the one-day summit, which brought together Kwara South natives from across the country, Dr. Johnson Adewunmi, the convener of KSDI and founder of Thomas Adewunmi University, urged participants to remain united and committed to the region’s progress. The summit, the fourth of its kind, aimed to foster unity and realign the region’s developmental priorities, following previous meetings held in Oko and Abuja.

The summit featured a presentation on the socioeconomic development of Kwara South, focusing on small- and medium-scale industries and the establishment of cooperative societies as tools for economic empowerment. Additionally, achievements of local government chairmen were highlighted, particularly their strides in development within their first 100 days in office.

Governor AbdulRazaq was commended for the completion and commissioning of Kwara State University’s Osi Campus, which promises to spur development in the area. His administration’s investments in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, and water supply were also praised, along with the improved security situation in Kwara South, attributed to collaborative efforts between state and local governments.

Participants resolved to strengthen cooperative societies, attract industries, and ensure equitable distribution of resources, while also advocating for enhanced security measures involving traditional rulers and local stakeholders. They further emphasized the importance of developing tourist centers and attracting federal investments.

Concluding the summit, the forum reaffirmed its support for Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration and endorsed his political vision for 2027, underscoring his commitment to continued good governance in Kwara State.
