Kwara House probes alleged mismanagement of government assets

THE Kwara State House of Assembly has constituted a seven- man Ad – hoc committee to investigate alleged mismanagement of the state government’s assets by the Harmony Holdings Limited.

Tribune Online gathered that the Ad – hoc committee was necessitated following a Matter of Urgent Public Importance, raised by a member representing Ilorin North West Constituency, Hon. Abdul Rafiu Abdul Rahman on “Allegation of Misappropriation Relating to Government’s Assets by Harmony Holdings “.

According to Speaker of the House, It Hon Ali Ahmad, the Ad – hoc Committee headed by the House Leader, Hon Hassan Oyeleke, was meant to verify, funds, property and assets that were taken over by the Holdings.

The Committee, according to the Speaker, would also verify whether the Holdings had justified its existence and identify success story of the Company since its inception, if any.

The Speaker had while constituting the ad – hoc Committee, said the legislators as the representatives of the people, could not close their eyes on issues which affect people of the state, adding that the ad – hoc committee would conduct thorough investigation and come up with recommendations that would assist the legislature in its resolutions on the matter.

The Ad- hoc Committee has four weeks within which to submit its report.
