Kwara Govt to renovate 193 healthcare centres

The Kwara State Government says it will begin renovation of 193 Primary Health Care (PHC) centres across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

Dr Raji Razaq, the state Commissioner for Health, said this at the cancer screening programme in Ekiti Local Government Area.

Razaq said the renovation was in line with government commitment at improving access to quality healthcare delivery.

According to him, rehabilitation of the health centres will cut across all 193 primary healthcare facilities in the state.

He said that the present administration was working tirelessly to reposition the sector, which would create a sustainable healthcare delivery system.

The commissioner noted that the government would fix the various PHCs with state-of-art equipment to meet the needs of the people at the grassroots.

He said that the reconstruction would be done in batches, where about 40 health centres would be first beneficiaries.

Razaq said that the approval was in tandem with the determination of the state government to continue to give the people dividends of democracy.

He further said that two of the centres at Obbo Ile and Obbo Aye Ayegunle in Ekiti local government would benefit from the first phase of renovation.

“The vision of this government is to make healthcare system available, accessible and effective to people of the state and its habitants,’’ he said.

The commissioner urged the people to always patronise government facilities for better services.
