The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the well-being of citizens through innovative strategies for implementing nutrition programmes across the state.
Speaking in Ilorin during the first quarter meeting of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition (SCFN) for the year 2025, the Acting Chairman of the committee and State Director of Planning, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Alhaji Sarajudeen Alimi, said the state is taking decisive steps to eradicate malnutrition.
Alimi, who praised the committee members for their dedication to tackling malnutrition, emphasised the need for a multi-sectoral approach to ensure the effectiveness of nutrition programmes.
“The Kwara State Government is keen to address issues related to eradicating malnutrition in Kwara State,” he said.

He noted that the meeting also included a training session designed to equip members with skills on preparing adequate budgets and implementing nutrition programmes within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
During the training, the Deputy Director of Budget at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Mr Matthew Ajayi, took committee members through the processes of preparing a sound nutrition budget and outlined steps to ensure timely fund release for programme execution.
Ajayi also advised SCFN members to work closely with designated Planning Officers in their ministries to avoid errors during programme implementation.
