Kwara aviation college operational licence intact ― Government

KWARA State government has said that operational and training certificate of the state-owned International Aviation College (IAC), Ilorin is intact.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday, the state commissioner for Works, Alhaji Aro Yahaya, debunked speculation that operational licence of the college was revoked, saying that the license was only subjected to normal auditing by the NCAA.

The commissioner, who said that suspension and revocation of a licence are not the same, added that issue of noncompliance raised was being addressed with the NCAA.

Alhaji Yahaya also said that a former acting director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Engineer Benedict Adeyinka has been appointed as the new Rector of the International Aviation College (IAC), Ilorin.

Speaking on the appointment, the commissioner said that Adeyinka would be expected to reposition the college for a better result.

Yahaya, while describing the new rector as a thoroughbred professional said that the state government hoped to see the college become more functional and productive under the rector.

He explained that the rector was appointed after the expiration of the tenure of the former one, Captain Abdulmumini Abdulkareem.

The new Rector, who said that he had been in the aviation industry for the past 32 years with experience both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria disclosed that he would lead the college to look inward for a solution to its challenges.

Adeyinka, who promised to address all that may be challenges of the College, is expected to serve a tenure of four years renewable by one time.

He commended the state government for his appointment and assured that he would bring improvement to the college to meet expectations of the government.
