Kwara APC leaders battle suspension

Chairman, All Progressives Congress in Kwara state, Bashir Bolarinwa, has warned both leaders and members of the party in the state to desist from alleged reckless removal of party officials in their respective areas.

In a statement issued by the party chairman on Monday in Ilorin, Bolarinwa has also declared as null and void all suspension of officers embarked upon without due diligence or the party’s constitution.

He said that the warning became imperative due to what he called reckless removal of Party officers by a congregation of disgruntled, selfish and attention-seeking elements in the party.

Meanwhile, a disciplinary committee set up by the Ifelodun local government chapter of the party in the state has reportedly suspended the party’s chairman and the vice-chairman, indefinitely, on allegations of anti-party activities.

The two suspended party officers are Alhaji Mohammed Shillo Awobimpe and Mallam Baba Malik, respectively.

The statement signed by the former secretary of the party in the area, and now the acting chairman, Olurotimi Ajisafe, said that the two officers were suspended based on allegations levelled against them in a petition signed by four members of the party.

“The decision to suspend the officers was taken at a meeting of the Executives, APC Elders and Stakeholders from the area.

“In a five points Communique issued at the end of the meeting, the Party resolved that the two affected officers should defend the allegation levelled against them before a probe panel/disciplinary Committee.

“The Party unanimously pledged their total support and loyalty to the person and administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi”, the statement read.

The state chairman of the party had said in the statement where he warned party leaders to desist from perpetrating unconstitutionality and discord within the party.

“He decried a situation where he said that one would labour to build a house and be hell-bent on destroying same.

“He warned further that those who had murdered sleep would no longer find peace, as all the organs of the party would no longer condone such recklessness and activities inimical to the growth and unity of the Party through the application of appropriate sanctions.

“He wondered why a party which was formed for the liberation of kwarans is now being deployed by some desperate politicians who are fixated with personal gains as a vehicle of torment for the same kwarans.

“Hon. Bolarinwa has therefore declared as null and void all suspension of officers embarked upon without due diligence and as laid down by the party’s constitution”, the statement read.
