Kontagora Emirate Development Initiative has said it is set to raise N5 billion and is more geared towards the economic, educational, social, cultural, infrastructural, unity, and political development of the Emirate.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kontagora Emirate Development Initiative (KEDI), Ambassador Ahmed Musa Ibeto, made the disclosure on Monday during the inauguration ceremony of the KEDI fund-raising committee held at the Dogonkoli Hotel, Minna.
Ambassador Ibeto explained that the committee, which consists of prominent technocrats, politicians, academics, and businessmen, is focused on raising capital with the view to ensuring that the funds raised are utilised appropriately, as well as gathering voluntary contributions of money or other resources from individuals and corporate social organisations.
The chairman of the fund-raising committee, Aliyu Ahmed, assured KEDI that all hands will be on deck to ensure the needful is done, adding that raising N5 billion is achievable.
The representative of the Emir of Kontagora, Galadima Kontagora, Shehu Galadima, called on KEDI to ensure they bring development to the Emirate at all costs, stressing that he will assist the committee with contacts in achieving its aims and objectives.
Earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Niger State Council, Abdulkareem Lafeene, and the Special Adviser to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago on the Social Investment Programme, Hauwa Muhammad Bako, both pointed out that the initiative was timely and needed adequate data collection to be able to achieve the desired goals.
The fund-raising committee of KEDI is to be chaired by Aliyu Ahmed, while Dr. Nuhu Garba Ngaski is the secretary.
Other committee members include education, human capital development, project monitoring, political, security, finance, economics, and wealth creation, among others.
