• Although an indigene of Ikorodu, Lagos State, he was born in Ibadan, Oyo State on 6 February, 1948.
• He had his primary and secondary education in Ibadan and Abeokuta between 1954 and 1966. In October 1968, he got admitted into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to study Fine Art. He graduated in June 1972 with a B.A honours in Fine Art with specialisation in painting. He was employed the same year by the Federal Ministry of Education and posted to Kings’ College, Lagos where he taught for two years before moving in April 1974 to Yaba College of Technology as a lecturer in Drawing and Painting.
• Today, Oshinowo is one of the best-known and versatile African artists. His broad oeuvre covers themes such as market scenes, traditional African dances, musicians, landscapes and the beauty and plight of the African woman.
• He has handled major commissions for individuals, companies and government agencies in many African countries.
• Kolade Adekunle Oshinowo, the multi-award winning artist, has participated in several international exhibitions from 1972 till date. Most of his works are in many public and private collections, museums and galleries in Nigeria and abroad.
• Dr Kolade Oshinowo’s love for book reading has no doubt contributed a lot to his success as a great artist known worldwide.
