Kogi SDP urges govt, security agencies to tackle notorious gang terrorising Ejule community

The Kogi State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, on Wednesday, tasked the state Government and the relevant security agencies to take decisive action against a notorious criminal gang who have been terrorising the community of Ejule in the state with impunity for a long time now

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on the insecurity of people of the community over the activities of the gang being led by one individual popularly known as ” Inspector”, its Director of New Media and Spokesperson for the Party in the State, Comrade Isaiah Davies Ijele, pointed that “the safety and security of the people should be the utmost priority of any government.

According to him, “It is unacceptable for individuals to roam freely with weapons, potentially endangering the lives of innocent citizens; we are not in Banana Republic where anything goes

Ijele expressed deep concern over the alleged lack of action from the authorities, particularly given that Ejule is the hometown of Deputy Governor Elder Joel Oyibo.

According to him, “The fact that such blatant disregard for the law is happening in the same hometown of the Deputy Governor is troubling. It raises serious questions about the rule of law and the responsibility of those in power to uphold justice and protect our land from criminals and thuggery activities.”

The SDP spokesperson, who alleged that the said ” Inspector” and his gang have been involved in various criminal activities, including plotting to eliminate leaders and supporters of the SDP candidate in the last election, lamented, “Many of our members already sustained injuries in the same community and environs.”

He said that the Party was demanding a thorough investigation into the matter and urged the state government and security agencies to take swift and transparent action to address the issue of lawlessness and potential collusion with criminal activities.

According to him, “the community deserves to feel safe and protected, and it is imperative that those responsible for maintaining law and order act swiftly to restore trust and ensure justice prevails.”
