Kogi guber: Supreme Court must prioritise justice over technicalities — Group

A pressure group, the Northern Initiative for Defense of Democracy and Justice, has urged the Supreme Court to deliver a just and unbiased verdict in the upcoming judgment on the Kogi Governorship election appeal.

The group’s National President, Ambassador Nurudeen Musa, made this call in a press statement issued in Lokoja.

Specifically, the group is asking the Supreme Court to scrutinize the electoral law, particularly the role of the BVAS system, in reaching its decision.

Additionally, they are urging the legal experts handling the case to prioritize the merit, evidence, and legal principles over technicalities that could compromise justice.

The National President also expressed serious reservations regarding the alleged All Progressives Congress (APC) celebrating.

“The Supreme Court’s integrity is paramount, and its judgments must uphold the principles of justice without bias or external influence. Any compromise in this high-profile case could lead to a loss of public trust in the judicial system, setting a dangerous precedent for future elections in Nigeria.”

“A fair resolution in this case will bring relief and hope to the people of Kogi, reinforcing the democratic process and the power of their votes

“The court must demonstrate its commitment to transparency, fairness, and the rule of law. By serving justice in this case, Nigeria’s democracy will be strengthened, ensuring that future elections are free, fair, and credible.
