The Labour Party Governorship candidate in Kogi State, Adejoh Okeme, has promised the indigenisation of the state’s economy if elected as the next governor of the state.
Okeme who made the pledge on Thursday while briefing the press at the Kogi State NUJ, assured of opportunities for indigenes of the state first before others in contract execution.
He made it clear that the state Ministry of Works would not sleep under his administration, assuring that it would form the bulwark of construction in the state using indigenous engineers and professionals.
His administration, he added, will cater for the people, promising to place emphasis on employment and job creation for teeming youths who are job seekers.
While noting that leadership has remained a problem of the state, promised a robust leadership that will be fair and transparent in governance.
Okeme said he will ensure the welfare of teachers and health workers, and promised to revive the primary healthcare system of the state.
He also promised to improve education in the state, lamenting the collapse of public schools, and said sports under his administration will serve as a unifying factor, with investment massively in sports infrastructure for youths.
For People With Disabilities (PWD), Okeme promised high level of care for the special needs of people in that community, said they would not be treated with disdain.
He reiterated his absolute confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), assuring that the Labour Party will win the forthcoming governorship election in the state, and urged Kogites to come out en mass to be part of the electioneering process.
