Besides, the medical doctors also said the ongoing industrial action in the state would be sustained until their demands were met by the government.
A communiqué issued at the end of the Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) of the association signed by the chairman, Dr Tijani Godwin and the secretary, Dr Zubair Kabiru, said the government should pay the balance of the 49 percent salaries arrears from August to December 2017.
Other demands of the doctors are payment of the 100 percent salaries and arrears for January and February 2018 and the implementation of the Revised CONMESS.
The association stated that all health care centres in the state would remain shut until its minimum demands were met by the government.
The NMA also directed that its members working with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja, should embark on sympathy strike on the first three days of every month.
The communiqué read, “All private healthcare facilities in the state will subsequently be shut down if there is no response from the Kogi state government in the next few days.
“Finally, NMA should not be held responsible for any consequences that may result from these actions as the Kogi state government has had adequate time to avert this crisis”.
The congress noted that despite declaring the strike, NMA had allowed some of her members to continue to offer skeletal services in the interest of the people of the state.
