Know Your Music Label

The entertainment industry in Nigeria is evolving, some call it a rebellion to the norm but the people at Kobi Mighty Records (KMR) call it a revolution. In a world where African music transcends the boundaries of the continent, where the world of music now listens to the African sound, its evolution has become a force to reckon with. For this reason, KMR, a universal music company influencing lifestyle and global sound, has risen from the largest state in West Africa, with the aim to become the largest and most recognisedas it consists of various intellectual persons who share a mutually refreshing and respectful love of music. The result is a progressive, twenty-first-century musicentertainment company that utilises spot on strategies while setting uncompromising standard of principles.

In a recent interview with the CEO of the label, Mr Abobade Olalekan, he said, “as a young boy, I would take refuge from the world behind a big secluded tree located about a mile behind my house in Lagos. This was a pilgrimage I took whenever I needed to get away and reclaim myself. Like a lot of children then, I didn’t really fit in; I would lie down under the tree, watching the light dance through the moss covered oak tree. It was indeed sublime, I would hear music in my head; sometimes a sparing melody, a sonic texture, or a mix of nature’s sounds and music.

“All I knew was that I felt really good and complete. I never spoke a word of it to anyone, it was private and special and in that moment I knew someday I would have to invest in music and create something huge and in one year, looking at what we have achieved, I would like to thank our fans for the love, support and believe in the movement and I want to promise you that we would be relentless in our efforts to produce good music at all times. We would not disappoint our fans”.
