Kiriji Cultural Foundation set to launch projects at war site

The Kiriji Cultural Foundation will soon launch some community developmental projects at Kiriji war site located at Imesi-lie in Ekiti State.

The founder/president of the foundation, Otunba S.L Ojo-Williams, made this known during a press conference in Ibadan, recently.

According to Otunba Ojo-Williams, Kiriji Cultural foundation would be partenring with the DAWN Commission to make the war site one of the sites of Yoruba cultural tourism and ensure that substantial funds are generated annually to support government’s efforts towards youth employment generation.

According to him, the projects are meant to upgrade the physical development of the battlefield and to add value to other historical sites to world-standard tourist centres.

The projects include The IbuLatoosa Fencing, Gate and Horticulture. The Latoosa Minnerette. The Confederates High Comrade fenching, Gate and Horticulture. The Peace Proclamation Spot Fencing, Gate and Horticulture.

Others are Aga Ogedengbe (Mini Pavilion). Yoruba Peace Treaty site: fencing, gate and horticulture. The Blacksmith spot and the unveiling of Kiriji war museum prototype.

Other activities lined up during the launch include exhibition of Kiriji War Relics and Peace Treaties,

Traditional prayers at the confederates’ Ogun Shrine, state visit to the 1886 pan-Yoruba treaty sites, parade of Kiriji war masquerades, booming of the legedary Kiriji guns and cannons etc.

Ojo-Williams, who informed that the launch is expected to hold on Friday, November 16, 2018, solicited for donation towards the success of the event.
