Kingmakers reverse decision to depose Ondo first class monarch

SIX months after the Kingmakers from the riverine community of Mahin kingdom in Ilaje local government area of Ondo state deposed the traditional ruler of the kingdom, Oba Lawrence Omowole, the kingmakers on Monday, reversed their decision by reinstating the monarch.

The decision of the kingmakers was contained in a resolution signed by the kingmakers stating that the disagreement between the monarch and the kingmakers has been resolved amicably.

Oba Omowole and the Kingmakers from the kingdom have been on loggerheads over the installation of a lesser monarch in Aboto community alleging Oba Omowole of installing foreigner for the stool.

However in the resolution read by the spokesperson of the kingmakers, the Yasere of Mainland, High Chief Godwin Balogun, said the resolution became imperative in order to maintain the peace and development of the kingdom.

Balogun however on behalf of the kingmakers pledged their supports, solidarity and loyalty to the monarch and the people of the community.

The meeting according to the statement was attended by the monarch, the Odede of Igbo-Egunrin, Oba Philip Kalejaye, the Olu of Igbokoda, Afolabi Odidiomo, the Molokun of Atijere Oba Samuel Adeoye Edema and the Mahin kingmakers led by the Yasere.

The statement read “That the Mahin kingmakers pledged their supports, solidarity and loyalty to His Imperial Majesty in his avowed commitment to the progress and development to the progress and development of Mahin land and particularly ensuring the speedy inauguration of Oba Beniah Adeola Idiogbe as the Alaboto of Aboto in Mahin kingdom.

“That the Mahin Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs express our appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his Deputy, Hon Agboola Ajayi, the Ondo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, members of the Ilaje Solidarity and Development organization led by Pastor Oyekan Arije and other well meaning sons and daughters of Mahin land.

“That the Mahin Council of Traditional rulers and chiefs wish to assure members of the public, particularly sons and daughters of Mahin and all residents within the kingdom of continued peace and the enabling environment for the pursuit of business and general well-being of all.”
