Kingibe mourns victims of Karu bridge explosion, seeks more attention to safety regulations

Published by

The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Heebah Kingibe, has expressed her sadness over the tanker explosion that occurred on Karu Bridge, Abuja-Keffi Expressway, Abuja, which claimed the lives of at least 10 people and destroyed about 30 vehicles.

While commiserating with the families of the victims, Abuja residents, and the entire nation over this tragic and avoidable incident, the federal lawmaker, in a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Kennedy Mbele, reiterated her earlier call to road users—particularly those transporting inflammable materials—to exercise extra caution. She also urged relevant authorities to ensure strict adherence to safety regulations in the transportation and road traffic sector across the country.

She further prayed for the swift recovery of those injured and for Almighty Allah to grant eternal rest to the souls of the deceased.

Tribune Online reports that a truck carrying fertilizer crashed at Karu Bridge hours after a cement-laden tanker exploded at the same location, causing multiple accidents and fatalities.
