LAGOS ‎State government on Tuesday said it has intensified security surveillance in various communities in the state as part of its determination to tackle crimes, including the menace of kidnapping.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Communities and Communication, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan, stated this while briefing journalists on the forthcoming Community Day, which comes up on Thursday.

Bamigbetan, while disclosing that the state government had activated all the strategies to stem the tide of kidnapping in the state, warned kidnappers to vacate the state as there would be no hiding place for criminals.

He said this was because all the local security outfit, including the Neighbourhood Watchers as well all the Community Development Associations (CDAs) and other community leaders had been mobilised to beef up security.

Speaking on the Community Day celebration with the theme: “Community Policing, Panacea for Securing our Communities,” Bamigbetan said that over 50,000 residents were expected at the celebration, which was meant to strategise on how to overcome the problems confronting communities.

He, however, said there was need for the residents to collaborate with the government in ensuring the state was safe.

The Commissioner for the for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon Muslim Folami‎, on his part, said that the state government was determined to develop the infrastructure in all the councils as well as beefing up the security.

Folami, who hinted that more roads would soon be constructed across the 57 LGs and LCDAs, assured that the ministry would also pay attention to the maintenance of the newly constructed 114 roads across the state.
