Kidnappers release Edo musician, Osayomore Joseph

LEGENDARY Edo musician and social critic, Ambassador Osayomore Joseph have been released by his abductors.

Osayomore, who was abducted on October 3, 2017, at Orovie village in the outskirts of Benin, was said to have been released in the early hours of Thursday in Benin.

The release of Osayomore was confirmed by his son, Osayomore Joseph (Jr), who stated that the family plans to move the musician to hospital for a thorough medical checkup.

He said, “My father has been released, but he is not too healthy so he is currently in the hospital taking treatment.

“It has not been easy for us as a family, but we thank God he is back home. We are trying to give him the best medical care he deserves.

“He is in the hospital now and it is our prayer that everything goes well so he can rejoin his family in good health.

“It has been very traumatic for us and not a good situation that you can even pray for your enemy. We thank God he is home alive.”

Chairman, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Edo State chapter, Mr Willy Eghe-Nova, also confirmed the release of Ambassador Osayomore Joseph.

He said the association was happy over his release to the family and to the good people of Edo State, who have been yearning for his release by his abductors.

He said that government must provide a means of gainful employment for the youth to prevent them from taking to crimes and criminality.

Attempts to get spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Moses Nkombe, to speak on the release of the musical icon proved abortive.
