Kidnappers, bandits kill five in Plateau

Kidnappers and bandits have carried out attacks in parts of Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of five people in Jos East and Barakin-Ladi local government areas.

According to a source, Agada Sambo of Zangam village in Maigemu District of Jos East, who went to pay ransom for the release of Luka Izang, was held back by the kidnappers after delivering the ransom, while Luka was set free.

Another person named Azi from Kayarda, also in Maigemu District, was also held captive and killed along with Agada. Both Azi and Agada were buried in Zangam on Sunday, as agreed by their relatives.

In response to the incidents, the police, military personnel, and hunters are currently conducting search operations in the bushes and hills of Maigemu to apprehend the perpetrators.

In another incident, a vigilante and another person were killed, and farmland was destroyed when bandits attacked a village in Fan district, Barakin-Ladi local government area, around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The bandits came from a nearby Fulani settlement and attacked the Fan Community while the inhabitants were preparing for bed.

The President of Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Barrister Solomon Dalyop, confirmed the incident and stated that the bandits also killed another person in Dasak, Rop district of the local government.

The Spokesman of Plateau Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the incidents and assured that the police are working to apprehend the culprits.
