Two wives of Alhaji Nasiru Ahmad, the chairman of Kiyawa local government in Jigawa state, were reportedly abducted by unknown individuals suspected to be kidnappers.
Reports from the state indicate that the criminals invaded Kiyawa town, the headquarters of the Kiyawa local government area, forcibly gaining entrance to the chairman’s residence and then kidnapping the two wives.
The suspected abductors allegedly fired shots into the air, causing panic and confusion in the town as everyone scrambled for safety.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Lawal Shisu Adam, stated that the abduction took place in the midnight hours of last Friday.
He explained that the abductors successfully kidnapped the wives of the Kiyawa local government chairman after creating fear among the locals with their indiscriminate gunfire.
SP Adam further added that no injuries were reported during the incident.
Upon receiving information about the abduction, the state police command deployed a special police unit to rescue the victims and apprehend the suspected criminals.
“Currently, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public, are working towards the safe rescue of the women,” declared Shisu.
