Kidnappers abduct 3 Edo teachers, demand N30m ransom

Three male secondary school teachers were on Monday kidnapped by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, in Edo State.

The teachers, who were attached to Ebomisi Secondary School, Ugbogiobo village in Ovia North East Local Government Area, were reportedly abducted on Monday while returning from school.

The kidnappers were said to have let go three other teachers who were females and in the company of the abducted male teachers.

Students of the school on Tuesday were said to have abandoned classes and took to the Benin-Akure Road to protest the abduction of their teachers.

They set up bonfires on the road and left passengers and motorists stranded for hours.

A source in the school said the kidnappers had made a demand for N10 million as ransom for each of the teachers.

Edo State Police Commissioner, Haliru Gwandu, could not be reached for comments as at the time of filing this report.
