After four days in captivity, wife of the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Venerable Ayodeji Fagbemi, Ebunoluwa, on Thursday regained her freedom.
Mrs Fagbemi was kidnapped by armed men who invaded her home on Monday evening in Oba Ile in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state.
According to a source, the kidnappers who took the Venerable’s wife away in her Toyota Jeep demanded N20million as ransom to secure her release.
The source, however, said that the wife of the clergy was released on Thursday evening to the family, but did not confirm if the ransom was paid to secure her release.
The source said the woman was released unhurt and was found along Ibadan-Ikire road in Osun State.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the development, saying his men are still on the trail of the kidnappers, and they would be brought to book soon.
