Kcee reinvents self in ‘Romantic Call’

Published by

Five Star Music label signee, Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has released his first offering for the year.

Kcee, who has been smarting from the earth-shaking upheavals that rocked Five Star Music, went solo in this new single, titled, ‘Romantic Call’.

He also took the initiative of reinventing himself, calling himself the Five Star General of the Nigerian Music Industry in the new song.

It will be recalled that the self-acclaimed Five Star General of Nigeria Music Industry started out his music career after winning the maiden edition of the popular Star Quest Talent Hunt Reality TV show as a two-man group, KC Presh, in 2002.

The union went asunder shortly after the competition, giving Kcee the room to establish a solo career under a new label founded by his business mogul brother, E-Money, Five Star Music.

The Limpopo master had been having series of altercations with his label mate, Harrysong, leading to cases of arrest and re-arrest over alleged breach of contract, fraud and other undisclosed charges.

Harrysong who left the label to form his own franchise, Alter Plate, accused his former label of under-appreciating his contribution.

But during the week, Saturday Tribune gathered that the duo and the Five Star Music may have reached an amicable resolution after the intervention of colleagues in the industry.

Harrysong, who had released singles under his new outfit, during the week tweeted what can be termed an apology to Five Star Music Records.

Harrysong has also deleted everything ‘Alter Plate’ from all his social media contacts.

And with his new single, ‘Romantic Call’, Kcee seems to make a statement about his independence.

The dancehall track was produced by Dr. Amir  and is Kcee’s first single off his upcoming sophomore album which is set to be dropped soon, while the highly anticipated and freshly released video was shot in the UK, and was directed by Director Ace & Zacky Madar.
