Katsina State Government has unveiled plans to revamp the 10mw wind project in Lambar Rimi after nearly two decades of non-functioning.
The State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda made this known during a meeting with Vergnet Groupe — the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) in Paris, France.
Radda who was accompanied by the Special Adviser on Power and Energy, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed, disclosed that the State Government is committed to working closely with Vergnet Groupe to rehabilitate this viral asset and restore its capacity to support the State’s growing energy needs.
Emphasising the importance of the wind farm to the region’s energy infrastructure, Governor Radda states that his administration remains dedicated to ensuring its sustainable operation in line with Nigeria’s Renewable Energy Master Plan and the 2060 net-zero goals.
Additionally, the Governor included plans for a 10MW Solar Farm to complement the wind project.
“This will provide clean and renewable energy to power approximately 4,400 homes across Katsina State.
“These projects are integral to Katsina State’s vision to become a leading renewable energy hub in Nigeria and contribute to the country’s broader transition to a sustainable energy future,” Governor Radda said.
