KASU matriculates 4,959 students for 2019/2020 academic session

The Kaduna State University (KASU) on Wednesday matriculated 4, 959 students for the 2019/2020 academic session.

Prof. Muhammad Tanko, Vice-Chancellor of the university, made the disclosure at the matriculation exercise on Wednesday in Kaduna.

Tanko admonished the new students to be of good behaviour and shun indiscipline in order to have a meaningful and successful stay in the university.

He frowned against bad practices such as cultism, examination misconduct, drug abuse and indecent dressing, saying that such acts would not be tolerated.

Tanko enjoined the students to shun examination malpractice, drug abuse, cultism and embrace the university’s dress code.

The Vice Chancellor noted the university only admitted students based on merit into various faculties and departments of the institution.

“It is pertinent to state that those of you matriculating today earned your admissions on merit; considering the strict admission process, therefore, you have to make maximum use of the chance given to you.

“Each of you should aspire to have a distinction in your courses, learn as many new things as possible, make new friends and be nice to everyone,” he said.

Tanko added that academic excellence and high moral discipline must be the students’ driving principle in order to achieve the desired outcomes.

One of the new students, Yunusa Hassan, expressed joy over the ceremony and promised to be of good behaviour and dedicated to enabling him to graduate successfully.

“I am grateful to Allah for choosing me among thousands who applied and got admission to study in KASU. I will try my best to be among the hard-working in my department,” he said.

Agnes Ibrahim, another new student of Mass communications, said she was ready to work hard and stand out among her peers.
