Kashamu’s stewardship at the Senate

TO many watchers of political developments, Prince Buruji Kashamu’s foray into politics may be sudden. But not many people know that he had been a long-term grassroots and community leader doing his best for his people without the usual fanfare associated with some politicians.

Senator Kashamu shares the same platform with the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election in the area of philanthropy, coupled with the mastery of the political terrain which even his adversaries acknowledge.

Senator Kashamu, no doubt, has made an impact in the area of philanthropy through numerous welfare programmes, like giving scholarships to students from his constituency, paying the medical bills of the elderly, building several healthcare centres, as well as initiating empowerment programmes for his party members and non-members alike.

In the area of infrastructure provision, Kashamu’s programmes include provision of motorised boreholes with tanks and fetching points in Iperu and Ikenne local councils.

Apart from these, he has also donated and installed a 500 KVA transformer at Iperu-Ilisan and donated a police station in Oru-Ijebu in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.

He is a grass-roots mobiliser to the core: there is no electoral ward in Ogun that Senator Kashamu has not visited.

In the nine local government areas making up the Ogun East Senatorial District and Ogun State in general, he enjoys tremendous support.
