Karim Adeyemi Foundation Highlights Nexus Between Tech, Football Development at Ibadan Tech Expo

The Karim Adeyemi Foundation (KAF), on Saturday engaged participants at the Ibadan Tech Expo on the connection between Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and football development, where it also contributed as one of the top sponsors of the the event.

The event, which is the biggest tech event in Ibadan, Nigeria, held on September 9, 2023, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

KAF’s participation in the expo was an opportunity to highlight the nexus between technology and development. The foundation presented a session on its work in education, football development, and community empowerment.

In her presentation, Jumoke Idowu, KAF’s Programme Manager, said that the foundation is committed to using technology to create a more equitable and sustainable future. She highlighted KAF’s scholarship initiative, which provides financial assistance to students from underserved communities, and its Adeyemi Football Club, which uses technology to train and develop young footballers.

Idowu also spoke about KAF’s ongoing project at Odo-osun, a community in Ibadan with limited access to clean water and sanitation. The foundation is working to construct a borehole and public toilets in the community, which will benefit more than 16,000 residents.

“At KAF, we believe that sports technology has the potential to revolutionise the industry and create new opportunities for young people,” Idowu said.

“We seek to support ventures in sports technology that can turn talents into an economy. From performance apps to tracking apps, geospatial potential mapping, and more, our goal is to bring talent to markets, opportunities, coaches, facilities, and resources, creating a place of acceleration and igniting an economy,” she added.

The Ibadan Tech Expo was a great opportunity for KAF to connect with the tech community in Ibadan and share its vision for using technology to create a more equitable and sustainable future. The foundation is grateful to the organisers of the event for the opportunity to participate.

In attendance at the event were prominent stakeholders in the tech industry, government officials, and enthusiastic members of the public. The exposure provided by the expo served as a valuable platform for KAF to share its vision and mission with a wider audience.

KAF is a non-profit organisation committed to empowering young people and fostering sustainable community development through education, football, and general empowerment.
