A tragic truck accident in Kano, Nigeria has claimed the lives of 23 people, with 48 others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The accident occurred on February 13, 2025, along the Kano-Maiduguri Road, under the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange Flyover, Hotoro.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano Sector Command, a trailer carrying goods and passengers lost control due to overspeeding, resulting in the fatal crash.
The FRSC rescue team, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, responded promptly to the scene and evacuated the injured victims to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, for urgent medical attention.
The Sector Commander, FRSC Kano Sector Command, has dispatched an investigation team to conduct a thorough inquiry into the crash.
The Commander also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and warned drivers against overloading trailers, emphasizing the increased risk of fatal crashes.
This accident is a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly in Nigeria, where accidents are a leading cause of death.
